MISSION
The Kununurra Race Club exists to bring our community together through country racing, hospitality, and Kimberley traditions.
We are committed to preserving the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes our race meetings so special while continually improving our facilities, growing our membership, attracting visitors, and creating memorable experiences for locals and tourists alike.
Together with our volunteers, sponsors, members and supporters, we are building a sustainable future for racing in the East Kimberley.
WHY WERE GROWING WITH MEMBERSHIP
The Kununurra Race Club is embracing a new approach by bringing our membership and sponsorship programs together under a shared vision.
Rather than seeing sponsorship and membership as separate, we believe every individual, family and business that supports our club should become part of the Kununurra Race Club community through Membership.
A strong membership base is far more than simply selling memberships—it demonstrates to government agencies, Racing WA, funding bodies and potential partners that our club has genuine community support.
The more members we have, the stronger our voice becomes.
A larger membership provides evidence that our community values the Race Club and wants to see it continue to grow. This strengthens our ability to secure grants, attract corporate partnerships, increase business partnership opportunities and advocate for greater investment in our facilities and future development.
CALCUTTA
TICKETS
Tickets are $5 each and are available until the race before the Calcutta, unless sold out.
THE DRAW
The Calcutta commences with one ticket being drawn for each runner in Race 7. If your ticket is drawn, you ‘own’ that horse until the auction stage! All proceeds from the Calcutta ticket sales are divided 40% for the club and 60% to the prize pool.
THE AUCTION
Each horse will be auctioned to the attendees at the Calcutta.
You can bid on your own or you might choose to pool resources with others. The ticket holders who have drawn a horse have the right to bid on their ‘own’ horse or any other, or not at all.
After the hammer falls on each runner:
50% of the sale price goes to the person who drew that horse in the ticket draw, the remainder goes in the ever-growing prize pool.
The highest bidder for each horse at the auction stage becomes the new ‘owner’ of that horse.
Successful bidders must pay for their horses in Cash after the auction.
THE WINNER
The ‘owner’ of the horse that wins Race 7 wins the total prize pool.
Remember to bring Cash for this event. No cash out on premises.
